Today, October 7, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on human rights situation in Ethiopia, renewing the mandate of the International Commission of Human Rights Experts in Ethiopia (ICHREE).
Since this ICHREE was formed, OLLAA has been advocating for the Commissioners to investigate all credible allegations of human rights abuses committed across Ethiopia, and particularly those committed inside Oromia. Last month, OLLAA’s Executive Director had the privilege of meeting with the Commission and emphasized the the need for investigations of human rights violations to extend throughout the country.
OLLAA welcomes the renewed mandate of the ICHREE and calls on the Commissioners to include a thorough investigation of the series of human rights violations that have been perpetrated against Oromos in their next report.
