Mohammad Bin Zayed receives Ethiopia PM

Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday received Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who is currently on a visit to the UAE.

They discussed friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as issues of common concern. The talks also touched upon the importance of boosting bilateral relations and exploring the best possible ways to develop them, especially in economic and investment fields.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, looks forward to building stronger relations and extending bridges of cooperation with all friendly countries on the grounds of its policy based on joint cooperation, friendship and mutual respect.

Desalegn expressed his delight at visiting the UAE and meeting its officials, as well as exchanging views on a number of issues that concern both countries and enhance opportunities of greater cooperation and mutual benefits from expertise and available potential.

During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad and Desalegn exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments as well as current developments in the region.

Shaikh Mohammad hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Ethiopian Prime Minister and the delegation accompanying him. The talks and banquet were attended by a number of shaikhs and senior officials.

Later in the day, Shaikh Mohammad received Prince Saud Al Faisal, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, who arrived to the UAE on a short visit.

During the meeting they discussed topics of mutual concern and current issues in the region. The discussions are in line with the historic relations of continuous coordination and consultation between both brotherly countries.

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, was present.

At the end of the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah and Prince Saud welcomed the decision of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces to participate in the Geneva 2 discussions.

They stressed that the objectives of the conference is to put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people by bringing about a real political shift with no role for the Bashar Assad regime, as per the Geneva 1 declaration.
