Oromo Communities and OLLAA Thank Special Envoy of the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Mike Hammer

The U.S. Special Envoy met with the Oromo communities of Los Angeles and Southern California alongside OLLAA on May 10th. The primary topics of these conversations were transitional justice, inclusive dialogue, and humanitarian assistance. The overall goals included increasing peace in Oromia, spreading awareness of human rights injustices within Ethiopia and establishing dialogue between the Ethiopian government and Oromo Liberation Army.

In the published thank you letter, OLLAA and various Oromo communities expressed gratitude for the openness and willingness demonstrated by Ambassador Hammer to engage in constructive dialogue on these important matters. This meeting allowed for an exchange of ideas and perspectives, fostering a better understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized individuals in Ethiopia. OLLAA appreciates Ambassador Hammer’s attentiveness to these concerns and looks forward to continued collaboration in addressing the human rights situation in Oromia.
