Flashing moon of March 17? Yes, Nasa in the U.S. now confirms a meteorite impact so large that it can be seen with the naked eye from Earth.
Space Stone was no giant, only about 30 centimeters in diameter. But the speed was hefty, about 90,000 kilometers per hour. That means according to NASA that the power of impact corresponded to five tons of dynamite.
The explosion was the largest since Nasa eight years ago started keeping track of the crackdown on the moon.
On 17 March the many meteors even around the world, and at about the same time next year, you can keep your eyes open – then passes the Earth and Moon through the same area full of space rocks again.
