I attended international Oromo Support meeting today in Washington DC. I assumed most people from different corners of Oromia would attend the fund raising event. It was not, to be frank. I was shocked. That is why I said last time let us be clear and do not confuse people. We should make things clear when we talk about Qerro/Youth. We have two youths: armed and unarmed. The armed Qerro is Oromo Liberation Army. Unarmed youths are largely students. With no doubt, both youths need support. But, we need to raise questions such as what type of support and the level of support for both youths are important. The lion share of the money gathered has to go to the armed youth. During the fund raising event, I agreed and disagreed with the current Oromo Youth fund raising organizers.
When I told them the lion share of the money has to go the army, they said no. The organizers said that we support victim families and civil protesters not the armed youth. I disagreed on this. I see overlap of activities with Mecha and Tulema Association. It looks the group are giving support to those parties pursuing peaceful struggle. or want to work as an advocacy group for parties pursuing peaceful struggle. I do agree that support is necessary for activists at home but there must be a limit for this group. why?. We have to invest more where we can see more significant impact-the army.
